Local resident, Joanne Pickett, was the winner of the prize draw for the return of the Crigglestone Community Plan questionnaire.  In making the presentation of a voucher for Sunday lunch at the Cedar Court Hotel, General Manager Hayleigh Parkhurst said “Cedar Court Hotel is delighted to be associated with the Community Led Plan.  I’m really pleased to hear the questionnaire had a response of over 23%, comparing very favourably with the 10% return when a Parish Plan was first produced in 2004.”

Steering Group Chair, Peter Daniels, added “The group is grateful to Cedar Court Hotel for their sponsorship of the questionnaire.  The Group is now moving on to analyse the feedback received leading to proposals for an action plan in the summer.”

Prize draw

A big thank you to all residents who filled in their forms. The winner of the prize draw was questionnaire number 0934.

The next step is a questionnaire which is now being distributed to all households in the parish area.  Be sure to complete your form and return it in the Freepost envelope to enter the PRIZE DRAW to win Sunday Lunch for four at the Cedar Court Hotel.

November 2010

Developing a successful plan demands that everyone who lives, works and plays in the Crigglestone area has the opportunity to have their say. To this end, public consultation events have been held and members of the Steering Committee have talked to a number of focus groups.

October 2010

The year ahead promises to be an interesting one for the people of Crigglestone as this October will see the launch of a project to refresh their Community Plan. The project is being led by a group of local residents, the Crigglestone Community Plan Steering Group (CCPSG), who will be working hard over a twelve month period to make sure the best possible plan is produced.

The Plan will cover the communities of: Crigglestone, Calder Grove, Hall Green, Durkar, Dennington, Newmillerdam, Chapelthorpe, Great Cliffe, Painthorpe and Hollingthorpe.

“The aim of a Community Plan is to gather information about the concerns and aspirations of local people”, says Peter Daniels, Chair of the CCPSG. “It will take stock of what’s happening throughout the area and seek to clarify what improvements and changes people want”. He adds, “It’s important that people understand this is their plan. As well as influencing decision-making by the local authority and service providers, there will be opportunities for the community to make some of the changes they want themselves.”

The scope of the Plan will be as wide as the community sees fit, so it could address issues as varied as the Environment, Housing, Crime & Safety, Local Facilities for Young People, Access to Services and Leisure, to name just a few.

Funded by Rural Action Yorkshire and The Big Lottery Awards for All, the project will take a year to complete. For more information on the Plan, its progress and how you can get involved, follow us on this page, email info@crigplan.org or phone 01924 373487.
